Trips and Photo Sessions
Photo sessions are offered at several exotic animal facilities throughout the state. These sessions will give you up close and personal time with the animals. These sessions are set up to give the participant up close interaction with the animal and in some cases you are able to touch and hold the younger animals. The photography time and locations are up to the location animal handler. Please note that animals are not guaranteed and the amount of time with the animals are not guaranteed. The animals welfare is first and foremost in all circumstances. If animals have to be pulled out of the sessions due to anxiety, or weather, we will do our best to replace with another animal if possible. Backgrounds, weather and lighting is not guaranteed, although we do our best to acommodate whenever possible. If you have any questions, please feel free to give me a call or email. Please note the specific location information on the bottom of the page for more information on shooting arrangements.

March 2013 – Black Bear cubs with Browns Zoo. The date will be announced soon, but it should be the middle to end of March we will photograph black bear cubs before they head to their new homes. The cost of this shoot is $125.00. We usually have the trip at Grand Bear Lodge in Utica Illinois and shoot the cubs in around a hollowed out log.Browns Zoo is a wildlife sanctuary. They are the only zoo in Illinois that have white tigers. Other animals at the zoo include bobcat, leopards, lynx, tigers, mountain lions, barbary lions, black bear, wolves and various other smaller animals. A very large portion of your workshop money goes directly to the care of the animals at the zoo. During various times of the year, the zoo has babies. When these babies are available, you will get to photograph them outside their pens and be able to touch and hold them for photographs. This is a very special time to interact with the animals and get up closer and personal with the babies. The other animals will be photographed in their pens and you will have to shoot through chainlink fencing. Second Hand Ranch is a wildlife rehab facility located near Princeton, Illinois. The rehab facility takes in wildlife for future release. Nancy typically gets in raccoons, squirrels, rabbits, fawns and fox occasionally and any other wildlife that needs help to be released back into the wild. This is a non-profit facility and a very large portion of your workshop money will be donated to the rehab facility to help take care of the wildlife that she takes care of. We will be photographing these animals in the grass and woods around the property. Summerfield Zoo is a private zoo. The zoo houses several exotics including camels, reindeer, mountain lions, lynx, fennec fox, arctic fox, bobcats, wolves, kinkajous, ring tailed lemurs, mute swans, black swans and more. Several times during the year, we will have workshops to be able to photograph some of the wildlife in some nature settings. You will be inside the pen with the animals (sometimes the groups will be split into two sessions to allow room and as not to stress the animals). The pens are smaller, so large lenses will not be necessary for most of these workshops. The zoo handlers will try to hide the background fences as much as possible with logs, trees, branches, etc. These workshops will be limited to 10 photographers. A very large portion of the workshop money will go directly to the zoo to help feed and house the animals.
